Wink New Duals FM50

Well,

thanks to all the information you guys provide on this forum, I feel like a made a well informed decision. I had true duals put on today. They cut the Y adapter out and slapped a FlowMaster 50 series dual inlet/outlet on. It sounds awesome and I must admit I'm very happy. Thanks for all the research that everyone has done on this forum. Out the door was $370 and that included 18" 3 1/2 tips, aluminized pipes, and all joints welded.

Thanks.

Jay....Have you noticed any loss in bottom end torque? What about cab resonance or drone?

Question

Were those tips stainless? How does it sound? Lot of resonance in cab? Do you have ext cab or supercrew?

Hi guys,
to answer your questions, I haven't noticed any loss of low-end torque. There is a tiny bit of cab resonance when accelerating but not much. When cruising though it is not even noticeable. I used to have an 83 Monte Carlo w/ 350 small block, straights and glass packs that were blown out so my definition of loud may be different than yours. It was louder than I expected it to be and I almost went with the 40 series but I'm glad I didn't. I was able to acheive the near impossible, loud enough for me to like it but quiet enough for my wife to tolerate it. I'm afraid my wife would have disowned me if I brought the 40 home. Overall it sounds awesome and I love it. I would definitely recommend this setup to anyone who is thinking about FM. I have a '97 4.6 Litre 4x4 Extended Cab, Lariat Package. I'm resetting my computer today. Have either of you guys installed an Airaid intake system and if so was there any noticeable difference? I have a K&N air filter but am eyeing the Airaid system.

Thanks.

I forgot to answer one question. They were indeed stainless tips and they look very sharp. I was a bit worried that 3 1/2" was going to look too big but once they were on they look perffect. I almost went with 3" but I'm glad I didn't.

O.k.
I just reset the computer on my truck and I did notice a little loss of low end torque. However, it more than made of for it in the higher RPM range. It was actually quite an unexpected difference. I can't believe that resetting my computer made the difference that it did. To anyone who installs a new exhaust, this is a MUST!
