Exhaust Question
This board is awesome! I'm a newbie to the board and have a question. I have a '97 f150 4x4 Lariat with a 4.6 v8. I'm looking to upgrade the factory exhaust to a cat back configuration with a Delta Flow 50 muffler. I have three questions.
1. What size should the inlet be on the muffler (what size is the factory pipe)?
2. I would like to run 2.5" pipes from the outlet but noticed that the largest outlet I can get with 2.5" inlet was 2.25". Is 2.25 sufficient for my truck?
3. The cost from the local dealer including 2.5" aluminized pipe (custom), tips, and installation is $200.00 I'm supplying the muffler. Is this a good price?
Thanks in advance guys!

1. 2.5" stock pipe.
2. (2)x 2.25" = perfect for the stock or slightly modified 4.6. Get some nice 3" tips so it looks manly.
3. $200 sounds good. Get all the joints welded or at least tack welded to eliminate squeaks, creaks, leaks, and rattles.
The DF 50 will be quiet inside, with a subtle rumble outside - it won't rattle the neighbor's windows. There are lots of ideas and opinions on exhaust systems - just do a search on Gobson, Flowmaster, and Ravin' and you will see what I mean! Good luck.
