what to do??

hello all

i have a f150 xlt 4.2 6er

everything is stock other then a airforce intake and a k&n filter

i want to know what would give me the best sound for the least amount of money for my v6.

i heard you can cut off the factory muffler and get a pritty nice sound. is this true?

my fear is that i will end up sounding like one of those stupid
rice burners that all the kids are driving around. i DO NOT want that sound.

also i do not want to loose mpg its bad enough these 6ers use as much or more gas then a v8.

my K&n gave me almost 30 more miles per tank of gas so i was hoping i could find some more milage in a exhaust.

any suggestions would be great ! thanx

Flowmaster

I have an Iceman intake and added a Flowmaster 40 series SI/DO and added 1.4 MPG with that setup. Originally, I added 1.6 with just the Iceman. That's on a 5.4 V8...not sure how other engines would be affected.

ampresearch,

Did you notice the infamous aftermarket intake whine that most people experience? I'm thinking of getting one of those systems

Whine

No, no whine at all. Maybe this has something to do with the intake kit. Air is covered going in and going out. Sounds like a big V8 should and not a riceburner

no i didnt think the intake made much of a noise at all. i mean i can hear an difference at start up but other then that i dont notice it except in my power increase. i mean i'll be the first to say i didnt think i would notice anything at all. but adding that intake really DID make a difference especialy in my gas tank.
i mean its not a 5.4 but for a v6 i think its great.but enough about my intake i really want muffler info. and i want to know if it sounds good enough to bother doing on a 4.2 6er. thanks a bunch
