New to Dual phenominon: Is there a thread to follow?
I should have written "where do I start?" for the subject of this post, but I want to avoid "re-inventing the wheel" and generally annoying everyone; intead, I'll ask if there is a thread that I can follow in order to learn the basics of adding duals to my truck? i.e. brands, prices, pro's con's etc.

I don't think there is any single thread that has an end-all do-all list. I do recommend some "searching". Try duals & duels as people spell differently. BTW, duals is the correct word.

Yeah, I kinda figured that there'd be no real short cut. Oh well. But thanks for the reply. Was the "duals is the correct word" true, or did you mean something else?
BTW, nice trucks...I went to your site (especially the expedition)

You used the correct word.
Just wanted to remind you that others spell it differently (wrong).
Thanks for the comments. But, check out todays site. As of 4AM CST, it's different. I'd like some feedback- my wife's no help.

HOLY!
Now THAT'S a pick-up. 6.8 v10 eh? did you have to get a new mortgage to pay for the gas?
There's no way you use that sucker for just driving around is there?

I knew it! Oh well; I bet it's worth it though eh?
What's your opinion on the gibson split rear duals? I went around shopping for prices yesterday and it seems that it's the most affordable (other than to have some shmo at the local muffler place bend his own pipes to fit, who wanted almost the same as the bolt on gibson system.) and offers a pretty good cat-back system for the money.

One does feel very safe in such a massive truck. And, the view's not too bad either!
I've had no personal experience with the Gibson products. From reading info on this site, I'd say they were probably OK. I went with the "shmo" system on the Expedition. Remember that their price includes installation vs having to install the Gibson yourself. Both will probably be aluminized- right?

very true, he does include all installation and he is offering whatever system I can put together. The dude suggested that I go with flowmaster mufflers and whichever tips I want.
My only question is what size pipes do I tell him to put on? Or will he know which is default for best performance? Also, do I have to get 2 mufflers? The reason I ask is because the gibson system has one jumbo muffler which then splits into two pipes (or am I not getting this right?)
Ok, two questions then. If two mufflers, then does that imply less or more performance rather than the one?
Sorry 'bout all these questions, but I'm really getting into this stuff

If you're not going with 'true' duals, I see no reason to spend the money for a second muffler. Just have him split the pipe after it exits the muff- like the Gibson.
In the above setup, the factory "Y-pipe" is going to be the bottle-neck. So, you can pretty much use whatever sized pipe you want. Probably a 3" inlet & two 2.25" outlets. Then, finish it off with a couple of 3" tips in either chrome or stainless. You might be shocked at the cost of just the tips.
You should ask yourself what you want out of the exhaust system. Noise? Performance? Looks? Your answer will dictate the type of system you should get. Doing a search around here will show the results of various systems in the above categories. Often, a system will offer an upgrade in more than one category- but realize there are always trade-offs.

Thanks for all your input man, I really appreciate it. I'm gonna keep surfing around here to get all the answers I can before I make up my mind. Again, thanks man.
