Question super truck on a 4.2?

has anyone seen heard or had any experience with the supertruck exhaust on a 4.2 v-6? I am looking for the big v-8 sound (which every other v-6 owner wants) so i am thinking about a flowmaster 40 series SI/DO or the gibson super truck. any other suggestions are welcome.

Cool

The only way to get that "V-8" sound is to have a V-8! The six is a great engine, but it will never sound like a V-8.

The flowmaster will give you the closest sound to the v-8 sound you are looking for. I would go with the FM in my opinion. I will be getting that soon, due to my POS system I have now.

Hey split, will it make a difference in sound if i go with si/do or si/so. or will it sound the same either way. i have been thinking about the f/m 40 series coming out right before the right rear tire. by the way your truck looks tight. by the way if anyone can post some sounds of the f/m on a v-6 it would be greatly appreciated.

Well Hotshot,

To my knowledge, I think that the only thing different with dual out mufflers is the look of it exiting from under your truck. Now if someone knows this area well, please correct me. But I am pretty sure it's just looks.

Hotshot,
I have a 4.2 with a Gibson super truck exhaust. It really sounds awesome. Sounds just like an 8 at idle. but it has a drone inside the cab at about 1500 rpms, and you will lose a little low end power but the truck will pass way better on the high-way.I think its what youre looking for sound wise. Hope this helps, and I'll try to post a wav. for ya.

musick76, THANK YOU SO MUCH. i am glad some one has the super truck on their v-6. i really appreciate everyones replies. i know this is asking a lot but do you think you could record it for me. i will totaly make it up to you in any way i can. also, the stock exhaust mounts behind the tire so do we need to re-locate any of the mounting brackets or anything since the super truck exits in front of the rear tire. just curious. thanks again.

hey music76: any problems with green center caps like with the stock exhaust on the '97s?
i was thinking the same thing about either the f/m40 or super truck but leaned towards f/m because of already green caps from stock exhaust.

Hotshot,
your welcome. I have been trying to post a wav. file, but I cant seem to get it working though. I'll keep trying. And no you dont have to relocate any of the hangers. the supertruck mounts right up to the two hangers closest to the front (orange ones) , and the rear hanger(black one) is not used, so you could leave it on or take it off. its simple to install, the hardest part is getting the stock exhaust off.

wildchild,
I have not had any problems with the center caps so far. The gibson S/T has been on 9 months and no probs. This may be because I have the 17" ORP wheels, but who knows it could still happen.

thanks musick76: the wheels may be the difference, seems to affect the plastic caps much worse. my were good until this year and now they look like an algae farm or something. weel one does anyway. thinking about new wheels this spring and don't want the same thing to happen.
