Post Exhuast help

Hello Everyone,
I'm an old pickup guy at 45, just recently bought a Ford 97 F-150 after selling my 1994 and not having a truck for a year : (
The 97 has a 4.2 V6, and it came with a dual exhuast system, dual pipes from the converters, down the right side, thru what appear to glass pack tube mufflers (similar to the old Cherry Bombs if anyone know what they were 30 yrs. ago), behind the axle the pipes separate and exit thru 3" x 12" chrome tips. I like the system, but it is a bit loud and I just can't get used to the V-6 sound, I want to quiet it down a bit, yet still have a bit of a rumble by replacing the mufflers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
