True duals
I am trying to decide what kind of exhaust to go with. What i want is true duals, That is pretty loud and has a nice rapping to it. Does anyone know what kind of mufflers should i go with. I have asked around and i was told to go with flowmaster 2chamber racing mufflers, and i think they also said 30 series..... Can anyone give me some advice.

Hey man, welcome to the boards!
I would definitely go with FM. Their 40 series(2-chamber) are probably one of my favorites on our trucks. I would keep your pipe size down though. Don't go too big. You don't want to lose back pressure. 2.25" to 2.5" is good. Good luck with whatever you go with.

If what I have been told is true, you can not put on true dual exhaust. I have a 1998 F-150 Extended Cab Short Bed I wanted this done and was told they could not do it. The shop I went to said that because the driver side cat feeds into the back of the passenger side cat they could not do it according to Federal Law. They said if a Y-pipe was used coming out of the exhaust sides of both cats it could be done (I hope this makes sense). This may be why you see so much about Cat Back Systems. I had a Cat Back put on mine but with no muffers, the tail pipes run all the back to the bumper with chrome tips. I have to say that I really like the sound and get a lot of nice response back from other people who hear it. Keep in mind also that depending on the O.D. of the pipe, the material used, and the length of the run will give you slighty differnet sound. I wish I had a wave file of the way mine sounds so I could send it to you. Good Luck with what you decide and hope that I was of some help.

My Y is totally behind all 4 cats. My muffler shop told me that anything behind the cats was ok.
