Question Questions about 50 series FM

I've got some questions pertaining the flowmaster 50 series muffler. First and foremost, where did any of you that have it, and how much did it cost you? Second, does any one recommend any different muffler for GAINING Hp and Torque as I need all the power I can get to pull my 19' bayliner. Any advice as far as mufflers would be greatly appreciated.

I just installed CGS Motorsports' single 3"inlet, dual 2 1/2" outlets on my 5.4L. This is the only muffler that I am aware of that is designed for low-end torque and power. Flowmaster, Magna Flow, Gibson, etc. are designed for performance at high RPM's. That's why you hear a lot of people complaining about loss of power and torque with these mufflers. How many of us actually run our trucks in the 5K to 6K RPM range? CGS Motorsports' muffler has a great deep sound without any drone in the cab. It also has a lifetime guarantee unlike Flowmaster and Gibson. Check out their website or give them a call, "www.cgsmotorsports.com"

Check out the Gibson Sweptside or Dual Sport. Both of these systems are specifically made for pulling and to increase low end torque. Gibson also has a lifetime warranty. See them at http://www.gibsonperformance.com

Stylin'SuperCrew and Lok N Load--

You two have this exhaus sh*t down to an art. You both have pre-fabbed responses to posts requesting exhast recommendations. As for you Stylin' why does your number of posts never increase?? It is at 9 for all your posts about exhaust! Maybe you don't want the world to know about you posting an ADVERTISEMENT hidden as a recommendation, that is used over and over?? Just a thought, I could be way off my rocker, so correct me if I am wrong.

My exhaust was supposed to be a Flowmaster 40 with dual 2 1/2 rear exits. It turned out to be a Delta Flow 50 with 2 1/4 dual exits... its a long story.

Anyway, it seems like the 2 1/4 pipes create enough back pressure so that I didn't feel any loss of torque. The truck actually runs awesome for lugging around 4,000 lbs + As far as sound - well it could be louder. I guess it all works out. Not sure the loud sound fits the four door image if you know what I mean Absolutley no droan in the cab. Decent out back sound and a distinctive rumble at WOT. All in all a pretty good system.

Oh, mine were installed at Meinike for $250 out the door. They really didn't do a very good job. They put the tips on without asking me - I was sitting in the waiting room. I made them cut them off and realign them because they were drooping down and sticking way to far out. I also had to take it back because it was leaking like a sieve!

Good price - poor installation. Oh well, they fixed it no questions asked.

Good luck!

I only posted to correct the torque and warranty info about Gibson. But I didn't want to get redundant so I only posted the two responses.

With that muffler(FM 50), it almost sounds aggressive when it wants to be and not all the time.
