Question Question on Headers

I recently installed a K&N filter charger system and a Flowmaster Force II exhaust, and am thinking about adding a pair of JBA headers to my 5.4L. The Flowmaster note is a little soft, and was hoping that the headers would add some "volume" (not to mention the HP gain). Would the addition of headers increase the "already performance" exhaust note? Also, given these bolt-on parts (including the headers), should I think about reprogramming the chip to take advantage of these additions.

The board has been very helpful, and I look forward to any responses.

Thanks!

I am not an expert on headers but I do have a vehicle that uses the JBA headers. I have Flowmaster 30 series Complete CAT-BACK system installed as well. This setup has given the most improvement in every aspect Torque, HP, Rear Teeth Filling Shaking sound.
Sounds like you are on the right track for a major power increase.
I feel headers will give you the MOST HP and Torque increase than any other exhaust mod (They Did For Me)… Of coarse I am not an expert on this. I just take a look at what Race Pros use. Figure they must know what’s going on.

Also I think your Chip is already setup for these MOD’s. Check With Mike in the Computer Chip section to be sure.

I talked to JBA last week and they told me they are developing header for my NAV. YOOHOO. Can’t wait. I am still having problems deciding on a COMPLETE CAT-BACK(s) system.

Hear in Seattle I use PRO-MAX for my installtions. Good prices too. Look for your headers.

New headers is a route I want to go as well. About it making your exhaust sound louder? Well... the sound has to travel through the muffler, which is the main part of the exhaust responsible for the "louder" notes. Since you are increasing flow to the muffler, I would assume that it would possibly increase sound volume coming out, but I am not sure if it will make that much of a difference. You also have to consider the Cats, cause they muffle the sound up a bit too. As for performance, headers are a must. xmas is coming up... hmmm

LaserNav - Thanks for the advise, I think I'll ask Santa for the headers - sounds like your Nav is coming along nicely. 400HP is an awesome target - look out SVT Thunder Expedition!

TheClear55 - thanks, I might look into some Hi-Flo Cats, if I can pass emissions here in Texas.
