Bassani Fit ??
Bassani Fit ??
Has anyone ever fit a Bassani cat-back (the one that dumps in front of the rear tire, like the HD/L) on an 02 Screw (FX4 pkg) with the FACTORY chrome tubular running boards? I like the HD/L look, just not sure if it will interfere with the stock tubular boards??
While I don't have the Cat back system, I have the Dual kit with the X pipe from an L.
I had to trim the factory black running board for these to fit.
The back of the running board, the black pastic was trimmed back about 1/4" to 3/8" to fit the forward bend in the pipe.
The Dual kit, the mufflers extend past the point of the exit, then turn back on themselves to exit the side at the angle.
Myabe dropping an email to the address at Bassani, and they can help.
That is how I first found the correct number for the cat back when I was looking at it origionally, before I went with the dual.
Sorry never, saw the cat back forward dump setup to let you know on that for sure.

jasonczura,
To give you an Idea of how the Dual system from the L fits.

Yes I know it is filthy, it just did another light snow, and with the salt on the road it is going to be dirty for about 2 days, until the roads dry off, and I can wash it
While I don't really know if this is the case with the Stock Cat back system.
Sorry I'm trying to help, but not getting any traction :

thanks steve for the response, although i am a little confused. you installed a "dual kit w/the x-pipe from the L".....is this the Bassani aftermarket system that is really designed to replace the stock Lightning exhaust not, not a supercew?? I guess you made it fit your application?
whats the difference between the "dual kit" and the cat back system? do you have a true dual exhaust? i wasn't sure about replacing the stock (i think its a y-pipe?) just yet. Do i need to in order to make this set up work?
looking at the pic you sent, it seems you have exactly what i am looking for. The dual tips that dump in front of the rear tire. i don't have the black plastic boards though.....i have the chrome tubular jobs (which may not impeed the tips?).
sorry for the added confusion here with all these questions. I did contact Bassani and they told me, they don't "think" their out-of-the-box system will fit my truck b.c. of the running boards. I'm not taking that for an answer just yet!!

jasonczura,
This is a replacement for the stock system on a L. I guess you could call it a Cat back for an L, as it is already True Duals from the factory.
I had a shop cut the factory Y pipe out, and created true duals on it, and then matched up the pipe after the Cats to be the same as the L.
The dual pipes on the dumps look to be the same wth either kit ( for the L or for the SCrew ).
If you think you might go to true duals, save the cash on the cat back and just bite the bullet on it, and either dump the money into true duals now, or wait it out a bit, until you have the cahs for them.
I basically got about 19 mos out of my Gibson ST, and that money is gone ! That would have been about 1/4 ( 300.00 ) of the cost of the true duals.
The L system was ~ $ 650.00 from Chickenears

I don't know what street price is on the SCrew Cat back, the MSRP is something like $815.00, it is going to be a tight price deal with the 2 systems, the labor & additional 304SS pipe on the true dual is the added cost between the 2, totaling about another 600.00 to 700.00 depending on the labor rate ( I used a speed shop rather then the local muffler shop ) and the type of SS pipe you use ( I got the 16 ga 304 SS pipe from Mike Troyer ).
You might be able to do quite a bit better on the install costs, if you have a muffler shop you trust to do the Dual setups, without bending the snot out of the pipes on the cats.
Just trying to add in some thoughts, if True duals are in your future, the Bassani Cat back is an expensive one to make a disposable.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
