True duals w/ 30" glasspacks!
Well, after all the research on different brands of performance mufflers, I went with the old standby. Luckily, the '98 4.6 has a cat on each side, making it easy to run true duals. I ran (2)30 inch long, 2 1/4 diameter packs straight out the back with normal tips. It sounds great; quiet at idle, but when you get on it, they wake up without any popping. Custom done here in Spokane for $275! The pipes and packs are all aluminized. Cabin sound is mild, and can't wait to make a road trip tomorrow for some deer hunting.
INAHURY, did you have any measurable performance/mileage gains? I did mine when I first got it, so I have nothing to compare to. Anything that improves airflow has to be better than stock. On this forum someone said they lost lowend power, but I haven't seen any difference, I don't think. But it does sound SWEET!!!
I had my duals done in Spokane last year, $210 total(no tips, though) I then ordered
a set of Gibson rectangle tips(From the super truck cat back system) It looks great and sounds better. But after reading about the Ravins,I may get the Z-55's to replace the glasspacks. I would
have to mount them vertically, though, because the pipes are about 8" to 10" apart. I may also ask them to shorten the cat to muffler pipes and run them out the side in front of the
rear wheels. Shorter pipes,higher HP?
maybe,I just like the way it looks. Also the car transport guys keep scratching my
tips and breaking the hangers in the back. ,,,,,,,,98
