Arrow Black ring around tail pipe?

I Have a 2001 v-6 f-150. On the tail pipe it has a little ring around the outside of it. I have only had it about a week and a hlaf. Is this normal?

I had the same problem with my y2k 5.4 Supercab. Apparently, Ford engine's are all this way. Just a little too much fuel in each shot. May account for the crappy mileage as well. My new exaust is only two weeks old and already has the black stuff on the tip. I've been told the Superchip takes care of this. BTW, welcome to the board!

I've seen the same thing on my tail pipe since I bought it. I wash it off every time I do the truck.
