Question 97 F-150 4.2 HELP

I have a 97 F-150 with the 4.2. I want my truck to sound like a real 4x4 but I am not sure how to get to this point. I don't mind playing around with the Exahust. I just don't want to put headers on. Can anyone help me? And are there any Sound files out there so I can hear what diffrent set-ups sound like? THANKS
