Question Flowmaster 50's

Does anyone have a wav. file of a 5.4 with flowmaster 50's?

Cool

Sorry, don't have a wav. file but did just install a 50 series SUV model number 52556 about a month ago utilizing existing piping including single tailpipe. This muffler is a little quiter than I'd hoped for but does give the low rumble sound of the Mustang 5.0. Can barely hear it from inside cab and can tell it's not stock from outside but not by much. Combined with a K&N replacement cone filter in the stock air box, it has made no significant mileage increase or power. Sounds are better than stock though.

Wink

Thanks Harley,
If you had it to do over again would you go with the 40's? I talk on the phone alot during a chase and I don't want to blast the station with too much exhaust noise.

I just put the Flowmaster 40s on my 97 F150 4X4 had it done at a local muffler shop for $80.00, I love the way it sounds has that mustang sound inside the truck but not to loud that you have to adjust the radio. I have had alot of compliments on it in my town now everyone is doing it.IT SOUNDS GREAT!!!

Smile

Thanks K. Smith. Did you go with duals or did you do the one in two out? Where did you buy your 40(s) from? Do you feel like you've lost any go power? Sorry about the 20 questions!
Thanks

Cool

okstormchaser - I'm running a 50-series Flowmaster Deltaflow. There is very little increase in in-cab noise levels over the stock system. When the windows are up I can hear a hum that in no way intereferes with listening to the radio, cell-phone or the person riding along.

For those times when I want to listen to Ford-Music - I just roll down the windows and smile. The 50-Series have a low tone and enough presence that let's folks know you're not running a stock exhaust.

I'm running the single-in, single-3"-out. I suspect the 3" exhaust pipe, and 3.5" tip, make my 50-series a little louder than had I run the factory exhaust pipe. (Can I call mine a 45-Series?) I found no real performance gains except at the higher rpms. There is no performance loss at the low-end. The set-up cost only $145.00 installed at a local speed shop.

No I just had the stock muffler cut out and used the original tailpipe they had to add about 16" of new pipe because the flowmaster is shorter, they had the muffler in stock I bought it cheaper than I could have ordered it for. As for the power did'nt feel an lost but a little gain in mid to upper range, I also noticed that the trans shifted a little firmer I guess its because theirs not as much back pressure.

My 2000 F-150

If it looks good
you'll see it
If it sounds good
you'll hear it
If it's marketed right
you'll buy it
But..if it's real
you'll feel it

Question

okstromchaser,
Sorry for the delayed response, been away from pc, working to much! I'm not sure I would put 40's on till I heard it on someone else's truck first. I don't think that it would be so loud as to drown out radio transmissions or people talking. 50's definetely wouldn't. All else fails, I'll give you my phone number and you can call me and hear my truck live!
