Question Flowmaster 40 or 50 vs. Magnaflow for 4.2L V6

I want to switch the stock muffler on my V6 for a better one. I want the best performance gains I can get out of it. I don't want it to make it noticeable that I have a V6 though. I'd like it to have a lower tone to it.

Cool

After looking at all the websites, I think I'll pass up flowmaster and magnaflow for gibson.

Question

Cr1028,

Did you ever get the Gibson for you V6. I have a V6 as well and was wondering what made you choose Gibson over the Flowmaster and Magnaflow?

I had decided on gibson because of the low-end gains you supposedly get. I wrote gibson and they said that just changing the muffler wouldn't make any difference in the performance and that I should go with the catback system. I priced there catbacks and they are a little out of my price range. Right now I am torn between the 50 series flowmaster with delta flow and the rhino muffler that I believe mike150 had. He hadn't heard the flowmaster though, rhino would probably be cheaper but I'm not sure how loud it'd be. I don't want anything too loud.

I have the Flowmaster 50 and love it!!! I think the muffler guys are full of BS. I can tell my truck is quicker with the flowmaster & K&N added.

I put a MagnaFlow on my V8 and absolutely love it. The tone is great, to a certain point. Very quiet once you get into higher gears ie. higway driving which makes the drive very comfortable. I say go Magnaflow..especially with the V6. People have said good things about them! Let me know

Not me, I've heard that magnaflow on a V-6 gives it a hollow tone to it.

I have mp3's of before and after I installed the Flowmaster 40 on my 5.4 V8. Hope this helps!

These two are before:

This is after the installation of the Flowmaster 40:

I like it, but it seems a little loud in the cab!
