Talking New Muffler!!!

Well I went to Midas today and added a performance muffler. After talking with the salesman I decided to go with a Midas's performance muffler... I know, I know, I should have went with a Flowmaster or another name brand but being the family man I didn't want to spend $250 for a Flowmaster setup. Also they said that Flowmaster only had a 90 day warranty but he did say that it would last 6 years or so. The Midas muffler came with a lifetime warranty parts a labor... God do I love the way it makes my V6 sound!!!! Been trying to leave the driveway as slow as I can cause my wife would kill me if she new that I bought one.... Just wanted to say thanks for all the good threads in this Forum... Maybe someday I will be able to afford a Flowmaster or Gibson....

If warranty was what you were thinking about most, you probably made the right choice. Although I don't see how a flowmaster muffler could cost you that much more, from what I see in the US, a flowmaster is only about $60, and it's going to take the same installation time & cost as a midas muffler. I had Midas do my catback for me, and bought all the pipes from them, but brought my ownh flowmaster in with me. The only difference in cost between a flowmaster catback, and you midas catback would have been the difference between the price you paid for the muffler and the $60 for the flowmaster.

99XLT: geting a loud muffler without telling the wife is a BAD, BAD, Bad idea!!! She will hear it and then you'll be "dead meat". The trick is to tell the "spouse" about the mods that are noticable and not tell them about the ones you can hide!!! Example, tell them about the great muffler that will help in HP and make it sound fantastic but leave out the part about the superchip or the shocks or the new amp & speakers. Please remember this advice in the future, we would hate to hear that the wife had really killed you over this. Oh, a thread you should look up in the computer section, posted by Mike Troyer about telling your wife (spouse) about the things you buy, is a must read

Wrong again Tina!

99xlt,
You have the perfect opportunity now to spring into plan B. You tell the wife your muffler must be bad cause its gotten very noisy all the sudden and you just had it to Midas and you can't understand and you don't trust them anymore so you want to fix it right this time........

Naw... on second thought, Tina's right, don't lie to the Wife.

I'm with Tina...Don't lie, tell the truth....The truth always works. Look I have a 2000 F-250 on order, because of telling the truth.

Tina your right I should tell her about the muffler but I will wait a week or two since I have also ordered a superchip from Mike. Once I get that in then I'll tell her everything.... That way instead of getting in trouble two times in a row I will be getting in trouble the one time. (God I am bad).

cphilip you read my mind. I was going to tell her that something must have put a hole in the muffler and that I needed a new one. (Shame on me...Hope Tina isn't reading this)
But the truth is I haven't lied yet cause she hasn't asked anything yet..But I do need to tell her...

corey what I wanted to do is get the Gibson Super Truck so the pipes would exit the side instead of the rear. I ask Midas if I went with the Flowmaster if they could also run the pipes to the side. Answer was yea for a price. So I just decided to spend the $130 for now and later get the Gibson or the Flowmaster with the pipes coming out the side like the Lighting.

Thanks for the laugh and advice this morning I needed that.

2hi4u I agree. After the superchip I will tell all. But I am afraid that if she drives it after the mods that she won't give it back. I guess I need to hurry up and get her that Mustang GT.

99XLT,

You will love that Super Truck when you finaly do get it! It is a little bit loud however but no regrets here! BTW, it also has a "limited lifetime warranty"

Good luck and I enjoyed you story.

Talking

I go by my dad's rule
It's easier to beg for forgivness than ask for permission!

It's the credit card paper trail that always catches me.

I wish she would let me drive it once in a while. She says she gets alot of L O O K S when she drives it. That's okay as long as nobody touches!

Look at yourselves. Your letting your women rule your life. At least I know I'm not alone.

I guess I'm lucky that I'm not married, I don't have to justify my purchases to my girlfriend, but my dad on the other hand, he buys it and acts normal, then when he gets caught it's the ol' "I've had that for a long time!" line...

I suppose when I get married I'll have to have a prenumptual where I can spend any extra money we have on our truck without complaint... (notice the our & we). More seriously... If I do get married, the deal will be, any extra money gets split, she buys what she wants with her half, and I buy what I want with my half.
