Question Info. on new exaust for a 97 F-250 4.6 Triton

This is my first listing on this site. I am looking for some advice with the purchase of a new cat back exaust for my 97 F-250 with the 4.6 Triton. I would like dual pipes exiting on both sides of the truck just in front of the rear tires, like the original exaust. I want a system with a decent sound but not to loud. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go with the Flowmaster American thunder cat-back kit. Don't exit in front of the rear wheels though. The exhaust gasses will pit the rear wheels if they are aluminum.

Beg to differ with you Bob. My 97 has always had in front of the wheel exhaust, always had aluminum wheels and never had a problem. Most of those that had mostly complained about discoloration seemed to be talking about the chrome parts. Even today the Roush and the Lightning both have in front of the wheel exhausts (like the Gibson Super Truck I now have). I cannot explain why some had problems but the best theory going was inner city stop and go,extensive idling type situations that allowed the gasses to stay in contact with the wheel Longer. I don't know for sure but I can say that many do not have discoloration problems from in front of wheel exhausts and a few did.

Kenny, are you having problems with this now? If not don't worry about it.
