Unhappy This is Sad!

Every now and then I have to post here just to keep it alive. You'd think there were no Excursions out there. I'm still considering one but it's not easy to get excited about it when I'm not reading about ones that are out there!

I would stay away from them. I build the seats in them and we have heard nothing but problems from buyers. They say the ride is rough and hard to control. Plus parking one is a nightmare in cramped areas.

Excur

Most of the ones I see are driven by 5'1" women. I do not think they frequent these sites too often.

Thumbs up

I think they're cool. I've ridden in one with the 5.4 and it was underpowered though. The PSD is the only way to fly. Right now you can get a GREAT deal on one if you have any negotiating skills whatsoever. There's nothing like being in one of the largest vehicles on the road. After all, this is America. Just take up 2 parking spots.

You had better get one soon. Looks like the Excursion is gone after '04.

Hmmm, that IS a surprise.

Well the good news is that out of the blue, my wife called me yesterday while out and said, "I just saw a solid black Excursion Limited, and it looked really good". I was shocked. She giggled.

Only hurdle is that I want to keep the Expedition and let her have it and sell her Volvo for an Excursion. So far I'm failing the sell.

My wife drives the Expy now. I am driving a Durango R/T (junk)
My lease ends in one year. By then the 6.0 PSD will be out. I think that is the direction I want to go.

Have you ever seen a 5'1'' woman try to scurry up into a 4x4 Excursion?

Funnier than my 5'0" wife getting into a 4x2 F150.

Well, I've all but gotten the go ahead from the budgeting committee (Wife) to go ahead with an Excursion. However, now that I've got her blessing, knowing it's going to be a $50k MSRP truck with $2000 or so uf up front mod costs, I'm having a real hard time justifying it enough to convince myself that it's time to sell or trade the Expy. It runs great, we've had no problems and it looks new (inside and out).

Some advantages of an Excursion is towing would be more of a breeze, more room to carry "stuff" and still have all 3 rows of seats for people and we'd be set up for the next "larger" boat, oh, and it's too dang cool climbing up into a 4x4 Excursion with a PSD and still having all the electronic comfort goodies (the wife insists on the DVD entertainment system).

Power would be incredible, but it's also almost 2000# heavier than the Expy. Another option is a 2500 Suburban with the Duramax (I'm told you CAN get the Durmax although I can't confirm it yet). I get A Plan pricing with the Excursion plus what right now is $2000 rebate.

A Superduty is also an option, but the Excursion really does fit our lifesytle more. Although I'l love to have a bed to drag stuff around in. Certainly would get a stronger market value in the SD where the Excusion market is basicily tanked. It would have to be a long term thing.

What else am I missing? How can I convince my wife to drive the Expy and we trade or sell HER car?

I can't speak for your area, but in the Southern Ontario area, Suburbans and Excursions are being passed on for crew cab 3/4's with a short box. Both Ford and Chev, V8's, Diesels, V10's. Many are opting for Leer Tonneaus or full size caps.

If all the people buying these crew cabs bought Excursions instead, it would have triple the sales.

Family Ride-

I see we're circling the same drain-

I too am considering a Super Duty or an Excursion (Or a Denali XL) but it all hinges on my success in getting the wife to relinquish the SuperCrew, take my Expy and let me use her truck to trade on the SD, Big E, Denali or whatever else. (Marauder maybe)

At first she said "As long as it's black", now it's- "As long as the rims fit." I said hey- the rims off your truck won't fit anything other than another Ford F-150/Expy/or Navigator, from 97 - 2002.

She then said- "Well, we don't need to get it then."

Women!! If I were single, I'd have a Lightning in the parking lot, and an Impala SS at home, right now! Well, at my apartment I shoud say, because I wouldn't have the house either!

Anyhoo, I'm still working on her- I'll break her by X-Mas- I'll hit her with the (Warranty's going to be gone) logic, it'll work. I've never had a vehicle 3 years. I could probably trade mine in and get away with it, putting my rims on her truck, but Sellign her on 2 Ful-sized utes, is gonna be tough.

I'd probably comeout better negotiating with her on the '03 'Rauder.
