2001 5.4L EXCURSION LIMITED WITH REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM

Has anyone removed the overhead console on this vehicle? Does the flat panel screen come down with the console, or it it independently attached to the overhead? I need to repair the dim temperature display. If anyone has done this, I would appreciate any pointers. Thanks!
