How good is this motor in these trucks? I've heard bad things about them and then I've heard great things about them.. The Excursion I'm looking at is a 1 owner and has 170,000 miles on it.
the 6.0 is reliable if you address a few things. The egr cooler needs deleted and headstuds installed. If i was to buy an excursion it would have a 6.0 in it.The 5r110 is alot better than the 4r100 that is behind the 7.3 and v10
Are those high cost things? Because I just got offered a really good deal on trading in my truck. (Almost pay off) So they just made it really hard for me to turn down.
Well I made up my mind that I want a Excursion.. Just not a Excursion with a crappy motor that will die on me....

the 6.0 can last 300,000-500,000 it all depends on how it was kept up. If you can get me the vin i can get you an oasis report and tell you what works been done on it in the past, on the 6.0's if it has been problem free for 170k then it will last long but if it's been in the shop 500 times it will probably be in the shop 100 times more.
It cost around $3000 to have ARP headstuds installed, better head gaskets and egr cooler delete. This will eliminate the coolant problems associated with the 6.0
