Hi. Does any one know if there any improvements on the 2001 ?

A dealer in town has a good price and 2.9% on a 2000, but being the first year (born) I thought some mod would be done on the 2001...

Oh, it's a 2000 Excursion PSD 4x4 Limited, green-out / tan-in, @ $ 41.000 (hoping to get lowered...40, 39 ?

 

I just picked up my 2000 model, did some comparing to the '01 model, only difference I could spot was the disc changer is now in-dash vs. in the floor console... I managed to get a green/tan ltd also, but with the v10 (couldn't locate a diesel in the area)... paid just under 37 for it (a couple hundred under invoice) and got the 2.9 for 60... if you can locate the one you want the finance savings make it worth while to get the 2k vs. the '01... go for it...

 

I am currently looking for 2001 black diesel. There are a few very significant changes to the 2001 model. 1) The diesel engine hp has been incresed from 235 hp to 250. 2) Most important to me is the sound insulation for the deisel has been improved. I drove a 2000 and 2001 and was impressed by the difference at idle. 3) As also stated by another user, the cd changer is now in dash giving more room in console. 4) They have had more time to work the bugs out. 5) Fog lamps added.

The Ford Dealer in Town as 2 PSD. One a 2000 and the other 2001. The 2001 is only $190 more, but it aslo has the AT tires.
But both about 46 and mark down on a "change name of dealer sale" to 43K. The 2001 would not come down any more and HIGH ins%. The 2000, well got it down to 40 even and with the 2.9... Will know more Thurs. Semper-Fi

 

On labor day I bought a 2000 Limited PSD every option and got it for $38,000. I put in the superchip to up the horsepower 50 and torque 100, what a difference. I am going out tomorrow to get new tires now that Firestone is looking at the steeltex's. Another dif. between the two model years are the 2001 has signal mirrors. I just ordered them from ford and ran wires to the turn signal wires under the dash. It took about 2 hours, but well worth it for this beast.

Hay 5 things different and the "dealer" said 2001 was the same. WoW. Maybe it OK the 2000 got sold. Yep, I haggled to long!
The 2001 PSD Lim/loaded got down...41.4 with 5.9 for 36mos. Think I will do it.!? Is that a good price?

That is a pretty good deal. I bought a new 00 PSD limited on labor day with all options for 38K and 2.9 for 60. I could have bought a 01 for 41K but no 2.9.

I know these were good deals because my friend owns the ford dealership and always sells me the vehicles at cost. On my 00 X he gave me cost plus 95% of his hold back.

Got It... So far it's "ok", but on the way home, put the windows down and wow - the whistle coming off the drivers mirror is way too much at 33-43mph. But it has the smaller mirrors and I like to get the BIG towing ones. Thanks all. Semper-Fi.

No I don't have the big mirrors. I liked them, but my wife didn't. Since I bought the X for her to haul the kids, she was able to pick it out.

 

Those excursions are some big @$$ suv's. g's that oughta put those annoying chevy suburbans in their place

 

Hell Yes!! Last week I parked right next to a suburban, and the Suburban looked like a toy next to it! The X is about 6" higher and about 8" longer. Ha - eat my dust chevy!!
