The high fuel prices have delt this vehicle a heavy blow. $65-70.00 a tank full is incredible! I just picked up the new June issue of Consumer Reports. The Excursion was not rated well in many areas or overall...only rate it as fair. They go on to say that it "is one of the lowest rated vehicles we've recently tested." Harsh words for a $40,000 + vehicle.
P.50 rates the Excursion, BMW X5, Mercedes ML430 and Shuvy 'Burban.

IMO, the article in Consumer Rpts was very biased. I think they set out to slam the Excursion from the beginning based on the fact that they tested it against unrelated vehicles (1/2 ton Suburban, the Mercedes, etc). Testing a vehicle designed to carry 2000 lbs or tow 10-12000 lbs against vehicles designed to tow and haul half that amount is unfair. Of course the Mercedes handles better, gets better gas milage, etc. Its designed to do different things. If they wanted to be for real, they would have tested the Excursion against a 3500 Series Suburban 1 ton. But they didn't.
