Personally I wouldn't have a gasser Excursion, but I'm biased. Depends on what you need it for and whether you're OK with 9-11 MPG burning the now cheaper gasoline.

I have owned a V-10 2000 Excursion 4x4 for the past four years and have had very little issues... It is a third auto and is driven ~7K miles a year. You cannot beat it for going on vacation with three boys and all the stuff in the back. It is the longest I have owned one vehicle in the past 20 years and I have no interest in selling it. Which is saying a lot. Good luck.

I don't know about the older V10, but the 3 valve V10 in my Superduty does a nice job of moving the truck around, and gets about 12mpg average. Now that I think about it, was the 3v V10 even offered in the Excursion before it was axed.

My 2000 V10 gets 11-13 in town, 14-18 highway. Towing a 6000 lb trailer it feels like there is very little behind us.
Comfortable compared to my last ride an F250 4x4. Quieter than the diesel, but yes the mileage is lower.
