Towing with a lifted 4x4 diesel Excursion on 44" tires?

I'm shopping around for my next tow vehicle and have pretty much narrowed it down to a 3/4 ton platform diesel Excursion either 4x4 or 2wd. I'd either want to lift it on 44" tires and suspension or if i go 2wd i'll do the 22" tires with 305/45/22 tires with 3,000 lbs rated tires like my current ride which i been running and towing with no problems.

My question is if the 4x4 Excursion was lifted on 44" tires correctaly with the proper gear ratios, suspension, etc would it still make a good & safe tow vehicle for towing a say 9,000lbs trailer?

I'll miss the exhaust sound of my 5.4L gasser but i'm guessing that the sound of the 6.0L turbo diesel spooling up grows on you

Towing 9k on 44's?

Contact Overkill (go over to TDS, www.thedeiselstop.com) about Donohoe suspension lifts. Overkill can tel you straight up what it'll take to lift an Ex to roll on 44" tires, and it's going to be high.

I'm not sure I'd want to try to tow with it though... Up to maybe a 6" lift may be OK but you'll definetly need to regear etc..

Oh, and that "gasser sound" won't be hard to walk away form once you feel a 6.0. I got my tuner back tonight after being updated and it's soooo go not to be driving stock anymore. Ever hear a 8000+ lb Excusion bark the tires in 2nd gear? Bawl them through 1st and 2nd on a good concrete road?
