Head light upgrade!

I have a 99 F150 and would like to upgrade
the head lights. I do not want to go too radical just a bulb change that can safely use the original wiring harness.
At present the factory headlights are very lame!!
Any and all help is welcomed!!!

Although I'd recommend upgraded bulbs, the first thing I'd check is aiming. The stock headlight system is pretty good, so if you're really disappointed, see if the aim is within factory specs first.

As for higher output bulbs, your stock 9007 bulbs are something like 45 watts on low beam and 55 watts on high beam. You can safely upgrade to a bit more than that (maybe 70 / 80 watt), but much more will require a heavy duty wiring harness. The stock wiring just won't handle the additional load. If you want to get real wild, there are a number of High Intensity Discharge (HID) conversion kits out there, but you're looking at big bucks.

One other option you might want to consider is additional lighting - like a set of driving or fog lights. Driving beams give you light quite a ways down the road, but will annoy other dirvers and should only be used with your high beams. Fog beams will give you lots of light close up and out to the sides, but are a bit short on distance. Properly aimed though, they won't bother anybody else.
