Cleaning Multifunction Switch

Hey, I got *big suprise* windshield wiper problems (no intermitent, wont turn off if you use the spray, etc....) from researching posts figured out its a dirty/greasey/coroded MF switch.
My question is people mentioning taking it apart and cleaning it. I wonder if someone could give me some more detailed directions. Do i have to take the entire switch out of the steering collum? People mention prying off the end cap with a screwdriver? Do you have to take off the switch to do this? Just looking at the MF switch i dont see any screws or bolts (though im sure there is if I take off the steering collum shroud) I am scared of breaking the cap trying to pry it off.

Its starting to rain here and I really need to get this fixed (preferably without buying a new switch from ford) Its gotten worse over time where I now have to turn the switch on and off because the wipers will just stop in mid stroke until i cycle the switch again. They also dont return to the bottom when turned off.
Thanks!

The cap just pops off. I even used my thumb nail to slip under it. Once off you will see a screw to remove to allow the parts to come out. Make sure you remember the order they came out in. You dont have to take the entire stalk off, just the end to get in there and clean the contacts. It may or may not fix your problem but it's worth a shot.
