Cargo Lamp Switch?
Has anyone ever added an additional switch for the cargo lamp.
I dont like the fact that you have to activate the interior light to turn on the cargo lamp. Has anyone done this, and if so, how do I go about doing it. The Silverados have this type of switch and this is just one small complaint about my new F-150. Any help would be appreciated greatly.
Thanks
Matt

On a similar note... has anyone ever installed a kill/interupter switch for the cargo lamp? In traffic, I hate turning on my interior lights because the beams on my cargo lamp are so bright that it could distract other drivers. (I have teh LED 3rd Brake light from an L and have followed an L with one and the lights are really bright.) Plus, there is no sense burning the bulbs if not needed.
This one has come up before, and there is no easy fix.
To make the cargo lamp only come on you need to provide power to the lamp that bypasses the door switch, if I were to go to the trouble I would wire a three position switch.
1)Constant 12V to allow cargo lamp w/o interior lamps
2)OFF
3)Current configuration (works like factory)
Being able to kill the cargo lamps is easier. Break the feed to the cargo lamp and insert a switch. To light the interior w/o using the dome use the map lights instead.
All of this is easier said than done, as you well know the wires are buried in the headliner etc.

The dash switch for the cargo/dome uses a 12v ground to activate a relay that activates the lights. At the cargo light itself, it appears to be a 12v pos setup with a power and a ground wire. What if I ran a hot lead to a switch and then tapped into the wires directly infront of the cargo lamp, and behind the dome light. I believe they run together into the headliner. Could I then use a diode or something to block the current from going back to the dome lamp and turning it on. Maybe if it were placed in the wire somewhere between the dome and cargo lamp. Anyone think this might work, or have any suggestions. What do ya think Flafonman.
Thanks
