Autolamp sensor
Autolamp sensor
Now that I've done the autolamp mod on my '02 and I've actually started using it, I've noticed that the light sensor in the dashboard seems to be too sensitive. I was even in a downpour on the way to work this morning and the lights STILL didn't come on. Has anyone else found or developed a workaround to reduce the sensor sensitivity? My first thought was to partly cover it, but I'd like to try something a little less half-assed first.
Thanks in advance.

There is an adjustment screw under the dash.
I couldn't tell you where though, I had it fixed under warranty.
I had the same problem, it got way too dark before the lights came on. I was thinking this option must be pretty worthless.
I was also concerned that if I complained, I'd end up with daytime running lights and I didn't want that but, they did it just right.
I still have to turn them on manually during daytime rain(it's the law), otherwise the sensor takes care of it before I think of it.

Sweet! Thanks Raoul. My shop manual on CD should arrive today or tomorrow - I'll see how hard it will be to get to that screw and post it here for anyone else who wants it.
By Autolamp mod, I assume you mean that you replaced the switch and dash cover and added the light senseor under the cover. If so, just remove the oval dash cover with the slots cut in it and look at the grey box attached to it. There is a yellow adjustment screw on there. The fartehr you turn in counter-clockwise, the darker it must be for it to come on, so if you want it to come on sooner, turn it clockwise a little bit.
The dash panel is flexable and all you have to do is work around it with your fingers and pull up.
