Demonic Horn Possession
Everyone,
My 97 F150 horn was possessed by some sort of demon last night. My truck is equipped with factory keyless entry and alarm. About 10:30 the horn comes on constant. It was not an alarm trip; no lights flashing just the horn blaring constant. I had to disconnect the battery to get it to shut up. This morning I pulled the horn relay from the fuse box to no avail Finally just disconnected the wiring from the horns so I could get to work without the horn blaring. According to my Chilton's, pulling the relay should have isolated any problems in clockspring, so the only thing left is the wireless/alarm module.
Any ideas on how to perform an exorcism on this horn?

It sounds like the wire directly to the horn has shorted to a hot wire.
Just a thought since this happened while the truck wasn't running - do you park outside? A friend of mine once had a Toyota that suddenly started dying whenever he turned on the right blinker, and only the right one. He discovered that rats had taken up residence in the engine compartment and had shredded the insulation on most of the wiring harnesses and used it for bedding. Perhaps something gnawed on your wires at 10:30 last night?

Hehe, yep. Well, they probably were field mice, but rodents all the same. He parked outside near a grassy field every night, and this was during the winter. They were using the engine compartment for warmth, and found the insulation cozy I guess. When he first told me his right blinker stalled the engine, I would have bet a paycheck that he was full of it. Craziest car problem I've ever heard of. (They also chewed through the water supply tube to the windshield washer nozzles.)
No, no rats (thank god)
Might have had some moths in my head when I pulled the wrong damn relay! I have isolated it to the clockspring and have disconnected it.
Here's my next question though - how do you replace the clockspring without replacing the entire airbag assembly?????
