Put a pair of FIAMM, Riviera air horns on last weekend.

They are loud enough, but I'd like to get a lower tone horn like their Toronado:

Air horn

I have a Hadley Bully Air Horn System in mine. It is meant to be a CAB mount horn, but I found a way to bury it behind the grille. Talk about LOUD, it is awesome 133 dB. Its twin trumpets about 15-16" long, air storage tank, compressor. Let me know if you go with it it, I can (hopefully) save you a lot of time trying to figure out where everything goes, and tell you who has the best price on it.

horns

I have deff. looked into the Hadley horns, and they were one of my choices. I would be really interested in seeing pics of your setup, how to's, and the name of where you got all your equipment. Also, do you have a steady air supply always to your horns, if not, how long can you blast on them before you have to wait for a refill. Thanks in advance, Chase

Pics of my setup

http://www.superford.org/registry/index.php?vID=528

If you go to this site you can see my setup pics. I should've done a seperate how-to, but can walk you through that.

There is an air storage tank that gets filled up by the compressor its about 5 in dia by 7 in tall cylinder. You can let off a really long blast with what's in there.

The tank has a pressure switch on it, so that once the press. dips below a set level, it kicks the compressor back on. A few things though

1) I used a relay in between the press. sw. and the compressor, it seemed a)the compressor would draw too much, and it was tough to find a large (20A) enough ign. wired fuse to tap.

2) you'll need to get an additional part from Grainger...compressed air generates condensation, condensation will cause the horns to not work. So you need to that in order to prevent water/condensation from getting into the tank in the 1st place.

3) You'll need to fabricate a bridge using some angle irons (Home Depot) to mount the horns...mine blow at an angle thru the drv sd. tow hook hole, believe me they are still incredibly loud.

4) I didn't like the "cut-off" switch that Hadley supplied, so I got one at Radio Shack and made it a very slick/concealed switch in the center console (I'm pretty sure the horns are illegal, so that switch is key if cops hear you to switch off and go back to regular horns). I definitely recommend keeping both the factory horn and the air on at the same time...you won't even hear the factory horn, but more from a safety perspective if the air horn fails.

5) There is a 1/4 second or so lag as the air builds up depending on where you mount the solenoid, I have mine mounted (not on the tank as instructed by Hadley), but about 3 inches from the horns (requires some additional fittings available at Home Depot, don't worry about air hose you'll have plenty).

They (Hadley) make an underhood mount kit as well, but I called them and asked what the diff. was, it's a slightly diff pitch (higher), mine sounds like an Ocean liner, they actually blew one over the phone for me to hear, but didn't have the underhood for a comparison, but I liked the bully. Jack Jackson the Technical Advisor at Hadley was a big help (with the condensation issue)as well.

I got the horns from Big Jax RV, they had the best price and had them in stock.

Hope that helps!
