Turning off dome lights?

I have an 02 Crew Cab Super Duty. When I open the doors, the interior lights come on (obviously.) I've tried to turn this feature off, but the interior light control will only dim the dash lights, not turn off the dome light? The handbook says rotating the **** all the way should do it but there is no detent...it dims the panel lights but the interior ones still come on. Any suggestions?

The courtesy lights are controled by the switches in the door. The switch on the dash is used to either turn the lights on with the doors closed or to dim the panel lights.

The only way I know of to turn the courtesy lights off is to trip the door switch. Not sure if your SuperDuty is like the F-150s or not. In the F-150, the switch is part of the latching mechanism inside the door. All you gotta do to turn the light off with the door open is to trip the latch. If you want the lights to always be off, then all I can suggest is you tap into that switch circuit and install a switch.
