Headlight Assembly Stuck
Hey guys,
After digging through the archives for the last hour I have not been able to find any answers to this problem. I am attempting to replace my drivers side headlight. The problem is the 'L' shaped tab closest to the center of the truck is stuck. It looks like the tab is stuck in the center of the little rubber nub on the lower bolt, if that makes any sense. I thought maybe I could tap it with something from the bottom, but no such luck getting in there at the weird angle it has. Does anyone have any ideas? I have fought with this for close to two hours tonight and have not gotten anywhere.... I have pulled on it so hard the front of the truck started to lift. So right now I have one aftermarket bulb in the passenger side, and a stock one on the drivers side. Please Help !?!

LStoker,
This may be a stupid question but did you push back on the clip and then try to pull up? My one light was really hard to get to come up all the way and it needed a little more umph while lifting and pushing on it. I put a 3/8 extension across the back under the lip to give a little more leverage on it. It almost looked like the holes where the light bolts came through were out of line with each other and needed a little jiggling while pulling.
Its just a thought.....

2000FordStyle,
Yea, I forgot to mention I am doing everything like it supposed to be done. I am pushing back and the little tab on the top of the bracket is clear, but the darn thing still wont budge vertically.....

Look down the back where the 2 little black nubs stick through. Are they both in the area in the bracket where it slides up straight. It may be catching on the lower one like mine did making it hard to pull up. I`ve had mine out 3 times now and its stuck like this each time. It even does it on my new "L" lights so I know its the alignment of the nubs or the bracket causing it.
If it is sticking I also found a screwdriver with a long blade is enough to give the nub a little push to get it straight in the bracket enough to slide it up.
Too bad we were not closer as its easier to show what Imean versus try to write what I mean

No kidding it's really hard to describe this. I think we maybe on the same track though. It looks like the spring clip looking part is jammed in the middle of the nub instead of being behind it. Maybe I can get a large blade screwdriver and attempt to push it back behind the nub in the morning.
I had two that were a ***** to get out!!
I took a 2 foot long screw driver put it under it and puled up as hard as i could. The clips went about 20 feet in the air and iwas duck!! My froend was like where??
If you take it to the ford dealert they will probably charge you like $80 laor to get them out

Well guys,
I finally got it loose this morning. I ended up having to take a pair of channel locks and push them against a hammer as leverage. When they finally popped loose the whole fron end of the truck was shaking.
