Igniton Switch

Recently had a 1988 F-150 brought to me for trouble shooting and repairs. Fault: igntion switch stuck, won't rotate at all and smells like eletrical system is burning.
Trouble shot, got switch to rotate but have no master power in any position, but can crank the engine. Faulty ignition switch.
Was told by Ford buff that Ford had a recall on these switches. IS this true or not? Don't want to charge extra cost to owner if I don't have to.
Any help is greatly apreciated, Keith

they did have a recall. your talking about the key cyl. turnning. those are common for the linkage from the key cyl. to the ig sw. going bad. if that is the case. you need new actuator's get both while your in there. you will need to take that colomn apart. but the recall is only for the sw. not the key tumbler or the linkage. good luck
