Thanks Buschman.......does this mean that if I "disarm" the PATS I can use a regular key that I had cut, instead of a new $60, chip loaded key that will start the engine? Or is this not a good idea, as it might screw things up? I've got alot to learn about this truck and what I'm able to do to it. I'm in the process now of chasing down the wiring on the electric fuel pump and putting in a "kill" switch. I just need to make sure it is heavy enough to where it won't short out and leave me stranded out in the Arizona desert in the 115 degree heat...........

PATS is not able to be 'disarmed'. Your kill switch will be redundant to the PATS system which disables fuel and spark until it sees the right key in the ignition - seems like a waste of time to me.

???

I 2nd the above post, that would be overkill, it would be like putting on two pairs of underwear.

Keep your keys in your pocket and never leave them unattended in the ignition and you'll have your truck for a long, long time.

56% of Stolen vehicles are "stolen" by someone who has the keys!

I appreciate the responses guys......I agree about the redundancy. I guess I was looking at a way around the $60 key charge is all. The more I learn about this truck, the better off I'll be.....cuz the stupid questions will stop. But I gotta ask to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks again...........

Just type PATS KEY on a search engine and you should be able to find some online outlets that sell the keys for next to nothing, like 6-8 dollars plus some shipping, I used them in the past.

GOOD LUCK

I'm trying to disarem the OEM anti-theft on my '98 F-150. I found the green wire with purple stripe. When I test this by sitting in the truck and locking the doors the alarm still activates when I open the door. If I have the right wire should this happen?

I found the Solution to this problem and it works

ok after having 2 of these trucks both 1997, 1 was 2 wheel, the other was 4x4. BOTH had the same problem and i did it on BOTH trucks, you can DISABLE the STOCK FACTORY ANTI THEFT system, directly under the dashboard , against the firewall up and to the left of the stearing colum , in the upper section laying flat, is a GREY BOX, with 2 sets of wires coming out, there is 2 screw bolts that are 10mm, and there is a antenna with a plug that looks llike the one you put in the back or your stereo,

now this is the ANTI THEFT, REMOTE KEYLESS entry box system, more less with these numbers on them

F7CF-15k602-AC

Canada 1422 k1409

FCC ID KMH-15k602-RAP

now this is simple, remove the 2 10mm bolts , pull the box down, and unplug both cables, now your system is disabled and deactivated, i have done this on BOTH my trucks, and after 2 years, still not ever having a problem again..

hope this helps you guys, cause it took me 3 weeks to run this system down after having the same problem on both trucks, searching the internet for every clue and calling ford, no one could give me the same answer, so i took thinks into my own hands and completly took the inside of my truck apart looking for this stock system, now that its out, i have never had that problem again, and i have already installed new after market alarms and remote systems in each..

huskerf150 do you have to cut the dark green and purple wire or just splice into it and ground it that way

1. Can you complete your profile or post some information on your Truck.
- year and trim level.

2. What are you calling the "oem security system" ?
- If your truck is 2000 and newer, this is the PATS system, which means the instrument cluster to PCM is what is burnt up.

when you say ground the wire are you saying to cut the wire and the cut wire place directly to a ground? or are you saying splice wire and add an additional wire that is being grounded?
