Power Door locks
Well on the passenger side the door lock wont unlock with the power button or with the remote have to use the key or door handle to get it open just started doing it today. I don't want to pay an arm and a leg at FORD to get it fixed since my truck has over 55,000 miles on it and is almost 3 years old.
This is very strange the other day it wouldn't unlock with the power button or from the Key Fob thing today it worked fine and I didn't do anything to it it looks like its going to be one of them things comes and goes on its own.
Here's the ongoing problem I'm having with my 2000 F-150 dor locks. First it started on the passenger side with the fuse blowing and the door lock not operating with the remote. Took it into my local independent shop (truck's out of warranty) and they diaganosed it as a power door lock actutator and replaced it.
Less than a week later the problem resurfaced, this time the lock would engage if you tried to open the door from the outside with the key or by just pulling up on the door handle. Later in the day it failed altogether and I couldn't open it all all from the outside. Had to get in the cab and pull the handle from the inside. Took it back again, and they fixed it, no charge.
Now, a week after that, the probelm has started all over again. Passenger side lock doesn't work with the remote, fuse keeps blowing. Now the independent shop is saying it's my driver's side acutator that's bad. Again, the driver side door lock goes up and down when I operate it with the remote; it's the passenger side that doesn't work. So, I'm not sure why the mechanic is saying the driver's side needs to be replaced.
Before I spend another couple of hundred bucks, anybody have any ideas what's going on here? Thanks in advance.

It's either the driver's side switch in the door or the switch in the passenger door. Something is actuating the locks when you're not pressing the button and burns out the actuator. Well.. sound like it anyway.
The actuators should only go for a second or two, not more.
The switches in the doors toggle the voltage either + - or - + depending if you're locking or unlocking. It makes it complicated to hookup an aftermarket alarm that interfaces into the power door locks. You need 4 single throw relays to accomplish the task.
Have a look at the wiring diagram in a Chilton or other F150 manual. If you haven't got one yet I hear www.fordf150.net is selling them cheap.
