automatic power windows

A friend just added a cool option to his VW New Beetle. When you press the unlock button on the remote keyless entry 3 times, the windows roll down. He can also roll up the windows as well. Apparently this is a European option, not an American one, but cool none the less. The upgrade was a simple computer chip that tapped into the wiring in the door. About a 15 minute upgrade.

Does anyone know of this is available for our trucks?

DEI has a kit to accomplish this. It is about $65 per window module.

Actually it is about $45 for the module that just rolls the windows up. The unit that can either roll them up OR down is about $75. You still need either a factory keyless entry system or an aftermarket alarm to accomplish this. I have the second unit on my F-150 and I love it.

These features are called global open and global close in Fordspeak. Global open (using the keyfob) is available on the Lincoln LS but you have to use the door lock cylinder to close everything from the outside of the vehicle. LS has had this since 2000 model year........

For F150 there is no interface between the keyfob and the power windows so you need an aftermarket solution.

The #1 benefit is when I walk away from my truck it will automatically arm, lock the doors, and roll up the windows. It is also nice to vent the windows while you are walking away. Plus.......it's just plain cool

this kind of thing has been availabe in aftermarket alarms since the 80's. The first one I saw was on my buddy's 88 Camaro.
