Question Adding Keyless Entry ?

Hey guys,

Is it possible to ad factory keyless entry to a truck that has power locks and windows? My truck is a XLT supercab but doesn't have keyless entry and I would really love to have this option. But I really want the factory type so I can get the factory keyfobs so it looks like it came with the truck.

Anybody heard of doing this before?

Thanks.

56,

Check out these links, the first one is a post...the second is the result of typing "keyless entry" into the search engine.....and, I think the basic answer to your question is ....yes, most likely you can. it is probably already there, you just need a remote to find out.

Thanks for the info S'crewloose.

I looked again and I have no box anywhere that resembles what has been described. I tried the programming sequence of turning the ignition on and off 8 times or whatever the number is and it did nothing. So, what I am wondering now is if I can acquire one of these boxes is it possible, or should I say easy, to assimilate it into my truck. I've got a couple of extra keyfobs that I have not programmed to my wife's Expy so I am halfway there. lol

Any more info on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

56,

Don't want to harp on it but, have you checked your wifes Expy? see if you can locate the box in it and then take what you've learned to your F150...Just a thought......because I am under the impression that XLT's have the box

I added a keyless entry system to my Truck. I have power door locks and windows and I just wanted a remote to opperate the locks. I purchased an aftermarket car alarm for $30 and wired it in. The install was a little tricky. The alarm has two leads that come out of the brain. One for lock and one for unlock. Using the included wireing diagram, I had to built a little dual relay system for the locks. To tap into the factory powered locks I used the wire loome that goes into the door on the passenger side. This was the most accessable place I could find. I've worked with this kind of thing before so it wasnt too difficult for me.

In the end, it was way less expensive than buying a factory system.

...and it makes a little chirp sound instead of the factory "horn" honk.

I too want the factory keyless entry. Have tried the 8 to 10 programming sequence also (got nothing), tried the sequence on a friends that has factory keyless on it it didn't work on his either. I also have extra keyfobs, think I should beable to make them work cheaper than going with a after market setup.

The "Keyless Entry" is only standard on the LARIAT model F150, its a option on XLT's and below.
