Talking PIAA Foglight Install Question

I am in the process of installing the PIAA airdam/foglights on my '99. I want to install a separate rocker switch for the driving lights (so they aren't always on with the headlights), so I have to fish a couple of wires through the firewall.

My question is where is the best place to penetrate the firwall???? There's a huge grommet to the left of the PS Booster, ut it's got some kind of thick rubber insulation blocking the hole in the firewall (behind the grommet).

I did a thread search but didn't really find what have others done to get wires through the firewall to the driver's side instrument area. Thanks in advance for your help. Can't wait to get these hooked up...

Firewall grommet

Johnny:

The grommet that you mention is the right place to punch through the firewall. The thick backing is the stuff that's under the carpet. Simply pull this back away from the floor under the dash, remove the grommet and you will be able to see through the firewall.

I sliced an "X" in the grommet and pulled the wiring through. Works great.

Johnny, I hooked up my lights to my fog switch. It was pretty easy to do but I didn't do it the easiest way. easiest way is just to connect your lights to the old wires, bad htough, since wattages are different. Best way is to hook up the lights according to your diagram, using the relay and everything, then take the hot wire that goes out of the relay to the switch and splice that intot he fog light wire. That can be done either right by the switch itself or right by the bulb. I did mine right by the bulb so I'd have less wires running through the firewall. Let me know if you need any mroe help!

PIAA Fog Istall

Unfortunately, I dont have factory fogs, so I just ended up installing twp custom switches tapped off the battery for relay power to the new PIAA fogs.

See my post with pictures under "Other Aftermarket".
