got my first ticket
got my first ticket
i was spinning tires coming out of a local store the other day and the next thing i know, there are blue lights behind me... i mean i know it was my fault, but considering this is my first ticket, should i be able to get it dropped, but by the way i not only got charged with spinning tires but also no seat belt, that officer gave me no slack... but with a lawyer do u guys think i can get it dropped.... ive had my license for almost a year.....
wrong forum man.
There are lawyers that can help get it dropped. I would try to do it even if it would cost you the same amount as the ticket in lawyer fees just so it doesn't affect your insurance.

its not worth fighting. wearing your seatbelt is a law, so you wont get any slack on that. spinning tires, im not sure about sometimes people cant help it. so you may have a chance with that one. neither puts points on your license, but it may up your insurance and i found out just today that it takes 3 years from the day an incident happens to fall of your insurance.
yhea, just say that you drove through a puddle and you had no weight in your bed. I sometimes spin my tires in the rain just by lightly touching my peddle. I'm not even trying to do it and I can't help it.

BTW, the length of time a violation "stays on your record" varies with the violation and the State you reside in. For example a 10-19 mph speeding violation here in Virginia will cast a dark shadow over your driving record for 5 years while a DUI will be there forever. However the demirt points that each violation brings will be dropped after 3 years. Regardless of the "point" value, your insurance company can recieve a copy of your driving record for the past 5 years and an employer can get it for the past 7 years.
Go to court, even if un represented and ask for a dismissal in return for a certificate of completion from an acredited driving school's defensive driver training program.
Petrol
I got a ticket the first time I was pulled over doing 61 in a 40. I know people that have done 60 in a 30 their first time and gotten warnings--it just isnt fair it all depends on the attitude of the cop at the time (We had a shariff for a nieghbor and he admitted this to us). One thing that might work, here in Wyoming you can not be pulled over for not wearing your seatbelt but if you are pulled over for anything else and dont have it on then you can get fined. If you establish that you shouldnt have been pulled over maybe you would be a ble to clear the seatbelt thing.. I have also wondered if you could saythat you unfastned the belt after you stopped to reach in the glove box. The second time I was pulled over was doing about 80 in a 40 mph construction zone (there was no construction just signs, I wasnt running over orange jackets left and right) all I got there was a seatbelt fine, thank god. So it depends on the officer. I think getting pulled over for spinning tires is BS unless you do it for half a block. Really it all depends on what the fine and time is worth to you.
I would fight it
I would fight it
I think you're very irresponsible on both counts
You shouldn't be spinning your tires just for fun on public roads because it's dangerous. Also: You should always wear your seatbelt. I'f I were your mother, I'd slap you silly
I also think that you should fight this and take up as much of the courts time as possible because this is your right as an American
Wohoo!!!
Anything that takes money from the pool of bull$**** speeding tickets wins points with me. Showing up in court for a minor violation is also good practice for when it really matters.

I got pulled over on Febuary 28th for doing 75 in a 50 the cop would not give me a warning what so ever he said he was being nice just writing it up for speeding and not reckless driving it was around 6:30 am why couldn't this cop been back at the station doing his paper work so he could get off on time. what happened was I was behind some @$$hole doing 45 in a 50 on a old 2 lane type highway and I couldn't get around him as soon as the road turned into a 5 lane road with the 5th lane center letf turn for both directions I punched it went about 100 or so feet seen the cop going the other way backed off seen his light go on just pulled over waited for him to turn around and pull up behind me.
Easy out of ticket
I have my share of tickets and I've gotten out of most of them, knock on wood. First, call and ask if they you can set up an informal hearing cause most cities have them. What happens is you will go to court and before appearing in front of the majistrate the cop will talk to you outside the court room. The most important thing is don't make excuses or lie, just tell him you screwed up and that you have a clean record. more than likely he will recommend advisement which means you pay the fine and depending on the duration of the advisement(usually 6 months) you can't get another ticket. If you don't get one you don't get the points, if you do then you will. The cool part is after your advisement is up you can do it again cuase there is no record of the first. Tip, if you get a ticket while under advisement set up a court date and keep changing the date until your advisement period is up, this only works if you have a month or so left on your advisement.
We all know the trick about challenging the ticket by going to court and hoping the cop does not show up, but in my case, I saw the cop in the lobby. I then decided to choose the California option of "trial by written declaration." I have heard that if they show up that you lose, so I immediately went over to the clerk and requested the form for written declaration. The hope was that the cop would not take the time to write his statement all over again. He cannot just submit the police report. He must write up a new statement. I was depending on the natural lazy nature of all humans not to do extra work. I figured it was easy to show up, but not as easy to sit down and draft up a new declaration. I received my bail refund and got no points. Don't know if that is available in other states.
