Keyless Entry?

I just purchased a 2000 F150 XLT,5.4 Triton V8,6 disc changer, compass, thermometer. Seems to have most of the bells and whistles, but didn't come with a remote for the doors. Dealer said one wasn't turned in with car. Is there a way to determine if that feature is on the truck and I just need to go to Ford and buy the remote?

Goo question, maybe your VIN may tell you if you went to Ford and they looked it up, as for buying a remote at Ford, may be expensive! check Ebay, they are pretty cheap there and see if you can prgram them yourself.

If you have keyless entry there will be a white box (Module) under your dash. Look against the firewall under the drivers side just to the left of your brake pedal. If you see this white box then you have factory installed keyless entry. I hope that helps, let me know how you make out.

White Box is there.

The white box is there. Before I looked here, I asked a guy in the Ford service department how to tell. He said to cycle the key to the on position 8 times, and on the eighth time, the doors will lock. Sounded fishy to me, and it didn't work. Hopefully now I can get the remote I need.

that is how you program the remote's. cycle key eight time's with in 10 second's ending in run position. door lock's should operate. this let's you know your in program mode. and then with in 20 second's push one button on remote. all of the remote's have to be done at same time. good luck.

Wino and the Ford Service guy are right!

It's on page 89 of your Owners Manual.

You need to cycle between the OFF and ON positions.

Insert key into ignition, that is the LOCK position.
Turn the key one "click" clockwise, that's the OFF position.
One more "click" clockwise is the ON position.

OFF to ON eight times ending in the ON position within ten seconds.

If you do this correctly and the locks don't actuate, you don't have the FoMoCo system.

If they do actuate, then all you have to do is buy the FoMoCo remote, program it, and you're done.
