A.M Raido Problem

I have noise in my AM Raido which makes it impossible to listen to while the truck is running. If I turn the enigne off, but keep the key in the on position, still does not work. If I turn the key to accessories, it works fine. Any Thoughts ? FM works fine.

sounds like a bad ground for the radio with AM your going to have a little static anyway but if you have more than normal it could be a bad ground.

I agree on the ground. The noise you are hearing is interference from the engine. You don't mention it, but I assume that the noise is louder with the engine running than just "on". It probably also gets louder as your RPMs go up.

I have the same noises,,,, but they sound more like the polling the puter does. I have had the bed off,,,, as it was hit in the side,,,, and they hung a new quarter on it ....

To me is sounds like the polling of the anti lock rear breaks. But yes,,, I totally agree that it must have something to do with a bad ground,,, as it will get quiet when I step on the brake. Obviously the brake lights come on and ground the system somewhere, so the noise goes away. It will also change pitch when other electrical devices are turned on..... fan,,,, turn signal,,,, lights..... ect.

you could always just run a new ground from the radio to the frame. This would solve all of your problems.
