Need to change the bulb!
Need to change the bulb!
Dumb question but I gotta know. 2000 F-150 how do you get the lens off of the light in the door under the armrest to change the bulb. Body shop says just insert screwdriver in slot and pop out. Doesn't pop out. Afraid to use too much pressure. Anybody know how? Thanks
All you have to do is pop off the trim next to the window at the back side of the door. I should just come off with some pulling.
Next you need to take off the oblong trim piece behind the door handle. Once again, this just needs to be pulled on a bit at the end facing the front of the truck and it should just pop off.
Now you need to take off the panel that has your window and mirror switches. Lift on the front of it and it will pop out. Unplug the window switches and power mirror switches and remove it.
Now you'll see one screw up by the top back of the door panel and one by the door handle. Remove these.
Lift up on the door panel until you feel it release and pull it away from the door itself. This will get you to the bulb and socket. Twist the socket 1/4 turn and you've got your door panel completely off and your bulb ready to be replaced.
Now all you have to do is replace the bulb and reverse your steps.
It's really a piece of cake. Good luck.

You were right, a piece of cake to take apart and put back together until I got to the upper door trim. Screwed up the clip so the trim doesn't fit tight. I will have to make a trip to Ford tomorrow to buy, beg or solicit a clip, the brass colored metal ones and hopefully they will also pop it on and make sure it is tight, maybe for free since we are regular customers? Oh well, seems like nothing goes perfect lately. Thanks for the help.
