Unhappy Security System

I just bought an F150 SCab Lariat. I didn't know it had a security system until it went off, and I haven't been able to set it off again. Does anyone know how it works, and should I have a keyless remote that goes with it?

You don't necessarily need a remote keyless fob to set the alarm on your truck (97 MY).

To test your alarm - open your window, lock the vehicle and wait about 30 seconds. Then open the door without unlocking it (i.e. pull the handle from the inside of the vehicle) - the alarm should go off.

To turn it off you have to put the key in the door and unlock or put the key in the ignition and turn to RUN.

Alarm system

Should this alarm system have a keyless remote? What normally sets it off(not me testing it from the inside?) Thank you...

If it's the factory installed alarm, the only things that set it off are the doors or hood becoming ajar after the system has been armed.

Some of the dealer-installed systems have a shock sensor added as well.
