False alarms
Has anyone out there had any experiences with false theft alarms? Every couple of weeks or so I get one, usually when the temperature is cool and falling, and/or there is moisture/precip but not always.
It's gone off about 15 minutes after pulling in the driveway after work, and has done the 3:30 and 4:00 am show more than a few times now. It also goes off midday sitting in the parking lot at work for no reason.
I don't have the door ajar problem that I've heard WD40 cures, and have had no other problems with the truck, a '98 F150 5.4 4x4 OffRoad SCab FlareSide.
I'm to the point of looking for the fuse to pull or the wire to snip. Dealer visits are fruitless, it's been going on a couple of years (winters) now.
Please email me with any thoughts or experiences with this, thanks in advance!

if you take it to the dealer. they can pull up the info that tell's them what has set off the alarm last few time's. it will show you what area to look at. door sw's hood sw's. or if your sitting on you key chain. hehehe just dont be playing with the panic button before you take it in. that will take up all of the past event's.
and on the other hand i would check the hood sw. closely. for binding, water past the rubber boot or is boot gone.

Last fall I was able to show a tech some instructions we found on the net, something about having to go digging down a couple of layers as the 1998's didn't have the new way of recording alarm codes?
Anyway it showed several "ignition tamper" and "panic" entries.
I can only assume the panics are from my use of the panic button on the keyfob to shut the dern thing off. I don't know what ignition tamper is refering to. That dealership was going to look up what to do but never did/never got back to me.
Thoughts? If there is a way to just plain disable the bloody thing I'd even take that now.
Thanks in advance.
