Question Very strange right blinker

My right blinker does not work when I move the lever completely to the locked position. I can hear the flasher flashing very fast like it does when a bulb goes out. When I just move it slightly towards that position without locking it on, it works fine. The left blinker works fine.

Anyone know about this?

there was a recall on the wiper arm, so maybe that has something to do with it. contact your local ford dealer, and they should replace it.

starting from easy fix to more expensive fix:

burnt out bulb
bad flasher
multi-function switch in steering column (that was my problem, and that of many others)

i have the same problem in my mom's Expy. or at least my dad does i dont. anyways yeah the turn signal will either go very fast and only blink in the rear (not in front or on console) or it will go very slow and not blink at all. its been doin this for a while now and we're contemplating on whether or not to take it into the dealership to have them look at it. (last time we did this for faulty shocks they replaced our brakes without asking and charged us) any idea as to why this is happening??
thanks

I just started having that problem as well.

Last week I put my 4-ways on and on the instrument panel only the left side sarted flashing. I wigled the 4-way button and finally got both arrows on the instrument panel flashing.

This week, i'm having the problem with the turn signals.

Because I'm having problems with both the turn signals and the 4-ways and because of my great propensity for bad luck, I'm assuming my problem is the multi-function switch.

I know the bulbs work. Are there any checks I can do to eliminate the flasher unit as the problem or confim that the multi-function switch is the problem?

If it is the multi-function switch, how hard is that to replace?

A burned out bulb can cause the fast blinking. Check the bulbs on the side that has the fast blink.

I have a 97 F-150 and the same thing has happened to me. Because I live in Alaska I thought it was the cold causing the "bad connection", but when the truck warms up the problem goes away and the right blinker works fine. May have to ask the ford guys about it anyway just to be on the safe side.

It is the multi-function switch! I had the same problem (left signal), bought the switch, but the problem went away before I changed the switch. In my case, I could get the signals to work properly if I lightly pushed the switch (not enough to make the signal lock on). The switch is a known problem and has been covered here a few times. You may find more info if you search this forum for mulit-function switch or turn signals. I think the switch costs about $60 list.

J150: Have you ever experienced a problem with the accesory/dome light in your F150? I have one that blows (fuse) at least twice a day. It affects the operation of the power windows as well as the high mount brake light. Any ideas/suggestions? Thx! Jesse
