Question battery life

Hi all,
Just curious about how long the factory batteries last. Anybody know if they're 3-year, 4-year, or 5-year batteries?
Thanks...

Hi Danny

On my 99SC...build date..11/98 27000. mi.

Still have factory battery.

The only thing i have noticed lately is a slight hesitation on starting in the morning. Been +9 deg. early am..truck sits outside..Before it got cold..no hesitation. Based on that..my motorcraft battery is holding up ok, so far. Even loose alittle psi in tires from cold.

Good question...should get more feed back...whos got the oldest OEM battery?

BTW...not related...how is you truck running with schip & Ca. gas?

Good luck....OT

I would expect the factory battery to last anywhere between 1 day and 5 years.

I had my '99 for 3 years and it started like it was still new. My friend's '98 barely lasted 3 years. These aren't the best batteries around, but if I get 4 years service out of it, I'll be happy.

my 98 was 4 in Dec, with a Nov 97 build date.

165,000 km (about 100,000 miles) and no battery problems. Starts every time with no hesitation even in the cold Canadian climate. I do plan to replace it before next winter either way (just in case)

Although ideally, there will be a new truck attached to the new battery I buy

My trucks build date is 9/99 and the factory battery is still going strong and has over 45,000 miles and the truck has been driven everyday I owned it so far since 11/12/99.

That is very good for a factory battery to still be going after 5 years but if I was you I would be replacing soon before it does go dead on you.

Wow! That's damned good, especially for such a hot place. The batteries usually fry in hot climates.

Both of you are correct. I smile every time it starts. Getting temped to start carrying my jumper cables.
I clean the terminals about every 3 - 4 months and cover them with wheel bearing grease to keep the corosion down (the flaky green stuf).

Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned: mine is a little over four years old with about 79,000 miles and still starting fine...

Had an old Toyota truck and the battery lasted 8 years. The truck had no power accessories on it, not even a lighter.
I let the battery tell me when it was time.

Not true on my boat though. Two batteries and I buy one new one every year. So, it always has a new one and a 1 year old one.

You just can't seem to get a jump out on the water.

I bet those on the water push starts don't work either.
