Does anyone have any suggeestions for the best place to run wires (mainly for switches) thru the firewall? Does the driver's seat need to be removed, or can this be done with easy access from another location??
Hi Redflare
One way..this i did for CB wires. I found grommet already in firewall..ran wire thru that..came out under dash. Also look for grommets underneath cab. in the frame work...ran my coax that way to get inside cab.
Not sure what you mean on drivers seat?
There should be rubber grommets in firewall of your turck....also..
TIP...i put wires in spiral wrap to protect them..and makes for a nicer looking job.
Good luck....OT

What meant by the driver's seat is simply a room thing. depending on where the grommets are, would it b easier to get access to these areas under the dash and firewall with the driver's seat removed. Have you found a need to do this, or can it be done simply by crawling and squeezing one's head and hands under dash to run the wires.
If you are not oppossed to drilling a new hole in the firewall, You can use a step bit and drill a whole to the size you need, and finish it off with a rubber grommet. I have done this on all of my previous trucks and cars. Twice, when installing Alarms and Radios, damage was done to other wires when trying to pull and push new wires threw, causing the wires to short out.
Just my $.02
