Fog lights without headlights?
Fog lights without headlights?
Is there a way to have my stock fog lights on with just my parking lights on? Is there a simple way to do this or do I need to do some rewiring?
Try www.svtlightnings.com and in the "How To" section scroll down to the "Great Fog Lamp Mod". Very detailed instructions with pics. Hope this helps.
The following link has some good pics and instructions for doing the fog light mod. This is my favorite "no cost" mod.

Only one short jumper wire needed.

Eric,
You might want to check this link out to. It's for a 2001 SuperCrew. I noticed the earlier posted link was for a 97 F150. I did my SCrew using this link... it took about an hour to do. The assembly was definitely different than the other posted link showed.

I did that same mod a few weeks ago. It took about an hour. 1 thing to mention, depending on the year of your truck, there are different switch styles. They look the same on the outside, but the release mechanism on the inside is different. Some have the 3 pins, others (like my L) have a series of latches that rotate to release.
Just completed this mod on my new screw!!! Why didn't I ever do this on my '99????
Best mod I've done to either because:
1) Its fast, only took about 50 min.
2) It's easy
3) AND IT"S FREE!!!!

Is there a way to do this mod without cutting the little plastic welds on the switch assembly? I'd rather not do that unless I have to.

Instead of cutting them off, I scrapped the excess ring off from around the pegs and was able to pry them through the holes. Did the mod. Then to put it back together, I straightened the plastic pegs back out with needle nose pliers, put them back through their holes, held it together with rubber bands, put a dab of superglue on the peg and case, let it dry, and you're ready.
I did not separate the clear plastic from the grey plastic peices. Instead I used a dremel tool to reach down in the pocket and grind the ramp back. Worked great. added a dab of lithium grease to the ramp when I was done.

best free mod I ever did. None of the plastic posts/welds need to be touched at all. Good Luck.

But my headlight switch is different from yours. I don't think there's anyway I can get around cutting or trimming the plastic welds on mine. Looks like I'll be buying some Superglue and doing the mod. Thanks to everyone for their input.

Many thanks to everyone with input on this thread. I finished the mod yesterday and thanks to very good directions and pisc, it was a piece of cake.
