programing my key fob

I recently bought a ford factory fey fob off of e-bay. How do I program it for my 97 F150 4.6L supercab flareside XLT?

Go to http://www.qualitycareservice.com/6000.asp and get the manual for the 1998. It has the info on how to progaram remote and autolock. Don't know why they didn't put in 1997 manual

Actually the process is different for the 97's versus the 98's.

You need to cycle ignition from OFF to RUN _5_ times ending in RUN on the fifth time (you have 10 seconds to do this step).

The doors will lock then unlock to indicate you have entered programming mode. Press a button on the keyfob, the door locks will cycle to indicate it was programmed. Press a button on any additional keyfobs to program them - the door locks will cycle each time. All fobs need to be programmed at the same time.

When all fobs are programmed, turn ignition to OFF, the locks will cycle to indicate you have exited programming mode.

The 98's should require cycling from Off to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds - this may have been a late change and the Owner's Manual didn't get updated promptly.
