thermometer miss reading!
hi, i have a question for anyone.
My XLT's thermometer in the above console isn't reading right.
when its about 30 or 35 outside it might read 48 or 52.
i don't think its a set number off, but not sure.
is there any way to fix this? dose this happen often?
its a 2000 f-150 4x4 XLT with about 40,000 miles
Is this a Ford dealer fix or can i reset it some how?
Thanks for any help!

if it was in other reading it would read lower. not higher. i found that out with mine. if you have acces to shop manuel info. the sender should be behind the grill on the left side. in front of radiator/ a\c condenser. at room temp you can read i ohm spec. from a chart. i have seen both over head unit go bad and sensor take a hike. so it's a guess unless you can test that sensor. good luck. and i dont know the spec's off the top of my head sorry.

Check to make sure the electrical connections are making proper contact at the temp sensor. The wires may have come loose or there could be some corrosion on the terminals.
When I installed my console, I noticed that it read higher than normal if the wires were not making good contact with the terminals on the sensor.
About the only thing that can go wrong to give an inaccurate reading should be the temp sensor itself and they only cost about $15.00 at dealer list.
